The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks is governed by a 14-18 member board of directors. The board is a broad representation of the citizens of Northwest Arkansas and includes three appointed by the City of Fayetteville.
Qualifications for membership vary each year as there are vacancies, but we strive to maintain a well-balanced board that is dedicated and knowledgeable on Garden operations and understands nonprofit organizations. Specific skills such as legal, financial, human resources and fundraising are desired.
The fiduciary board sets the overall mission and vision of the Garden and helps to direct the operations by hiring the Executive Director. They meet nine times a year in formal meetings but have many other Garden events including the Annual Membership Meeting, Volunteer, fundraising and educational events. The terms are three years and a member may serve two consecutive terms for a total of six years.
